One of my favorite things: when a bride has a custom made dress. Why? Because it's not from Allyse's Bridal (aka Satan's dress shop). I don't even care if I like your style or not, just make it uniquely YOURS. In the world of cookie-cutter weddings (ie, UT), it's refreshing to have clients like mine.
Check out the incredible designer of this dress, Melissa Blackburn, here and here.
Her designs are so delicious, she makes me want to actually have a wedding dress when I get married (an idea previously vetoed 'til now).

That dress is gorgeous! It has that cupcake silhouette straight from the late fifties and into the sixties - BUT it's a wee bit longer (now you could say the mid-fifties had the longer hemline, but not the level of poofiness seen here. I love the look and the design - especially the lace peeking out from under.
oh, yeah ... great pics too.
the jux of the aging industrial against the new marriage works without bringing in the whole "ball and chain" mentality. Oh, and isn't she just as pretty as a bride can be?
thanks for sharing.
Hey Kate, thanks for the post. I have been checking your blog in hopes that I would get lucky and see Cassi's dress. Stunning photo's of her. You really know how to capture a bride. Love the close up of her. Just incredible.
Funny, Julia's comment. She hit the nail on the head. The inspiration was Doir's New Look from the 60's but with a whole lot more poof and a lower hem.
I can't say enough for the bride that will take a chance. Those brides are a dream to work with because they do end up with something completely their own and so very un-utah valley. I applaud Cassi for pushing the envelope.
Melissa... looked at your website and love the design of your work.
Here's hoping my oldest daughter(attending school in Utah) will seek your counsel when she decides to marry.
Shout out to Katie for connecting people.
